How to Paint a Ceiling
Not everyone enjoys painting, but it is definitely a DIY job that anyone can do.
If you suddenly feel inspired to give your ceiling a lick of paint, follow these tips for the perfect finish.
You will need a paintbrush for cutting, a thick nap roller, a pole for your roller so you can reach the ceiling without a ladder, and ceiling paint in your chosen colour.
The best finish always starts with the preparation. First, lightly sand the ceiling to remove paint build-up. Next, clean the ceiling with sugar soap to remove dust and greasy residue. Finally, paint over any stains with a stain-blocking primer.
First, cut in with a brush around all the edges and any light fittings. Once this is complete, you are ready to roller. Choose a roller with a thick nap for the best coverage. Try to work in sections, rolling in all directions. This technique will help avoid streaks and a patchy cover.
